Other Questions

Why should I visit the cafe?

Cat Cafe is a safe haven away from the bustling streets of busy life. We are passionate about Animal Assisted Therapy which has shown that spending time with cats not only reduces your heart rate and blood pressure but is good for mental health.

We offer an extensive menu of hot and cold drinks, have cosy sofas to cuddle up on and don’t set any limits to how long you are welcome to stay. All of this equates to a relaxing and calming atmosphere - the purrfect escape from stress.

Where do you get your cats from?

Many of our cats are pedigree - this is because their natures are well suited to a cafe environment. Our cats and kittens come from registered GCCF breeders who abide by the rules of ethical breeding. Many of our cats have been re-homed from owners who were no longer able to keep them or because they have disabilities, such as blindness or hearing loss.

We also work with rehoming centres to see if we can offer any local cats their forever home. We will only ever take in cats that will be happy in our cafe and usually are struggling to find homes elsewhere.

Are your cats up for adoption?

No - all of our cats are resident cats, meaning the café is their home. We work closely with rescue centres to raise vital funds for their incredible work, while also supporting and helping to rehome cats in need within our local cat-loving community

What do the cats eat?

Our cats eat grain-free high protein based food most of which is human grade meat and fish. We feed raw as well as cooked meat and work hard to recreate the natural hunting environment of the cats by hiding food in the cat runs and using cat tree food dispensers, where they have to paw the food out of the tree in order to eat it.

How are you helping cats?

Although we do not directly operate as a rescue or rehoming centre, Cat Cafe support local animal charities by running special events to raise money and awareness. Our strong social media presence is used to advertise local rescue cats and kittens who desperately need a forever home. We also take in donations for our local charities such as food, litter and toys.

At Cat Cafe we are also passionate about promoting owner and breeder awareness about cat related health issues and we are working on campaigns to help abolish hereditary disorders such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy, Polycystic Kidney Disease and Cardio Myopathy.

How do you ensure the cats are happy and healthy?

We have a set of house rules to protect the cats' welfare that have to be adhered to by all customers. Any customer who is seen breaking the rules will be asked to leave. They can be seen before you arrive here. We also limit the capacity of our cafes to ensure the cats are not overcrowded.

Our cats also have weekly health checks which involves weighing them and noting any signs of potential illness. We also conduct behavioural studies on each cat regularly to ensure their behaviour in the cafe demonstrates that of a happy and relaxed cat - if it does not, we take them out of the cafe environment.

Most importantly our cats have their own large, private Cat Room and/or Cat Spaces where they are free to wander in and out as they please. We do not force our cats to be in the cafe. When the cats are in the cafe space, they are there out of choice, and we intend to always keep it that way.

Do you have any job vacancies?
